Ground Off
Overview
Ground Off ungrounds the selected component occurrence and removes the color override applied by Ground On (based on the configured Ground Color).
A common workflow is to ground components you do not want to shift while modifying adjacent connected parts, then unground them after constraints are resolved and the assembly is stable again.
How It Works
- Select a grounded component occurrence.
- The command ungrounds the occurrence.
- The ground color override is removed (if present).
Usage Instructions
- Open your assembly in Inventor.
- Click Ground Off in the Placement panel.
- Select the component to unground.
- Verify the component is no longer grounded and its appearance is restored.
Tips and Troubleshooting
- Component remains grounded: Check whether you selected the correct occurrence and that it is editable.
- Color does not restore: Other appearance overrides may still be applied; review appearance settings.
- Not sure what is grounded: Use the configured ground color as a visual cue, or reset using Ground Off All.
Examples
- Unground a part after editing: Restore movement and appearance after making changes.
- Prepare for constraint testing: Unground components to test new constraints or relationships.
